How to make a habit stick!

A new year, a new me and this time for real! At least that was the plan..
Exercise more, read more, eat healthier, and maybe learn a new language – Spanish sounds great, doesn’t it? The list of goals that you would like to reach is longer than expected.
But the reality is quite different from what you had imagined. You fall back into your old routine with your old habits – the new challenges and goals are forgotten and somehow you don’t find any motivation or time. Long-term changes that you want to incorporate into your daily life require discipline and, above all, a lot of consistency, and we know too well how easy it is to run out of breath.
So how can you make a new habit stick that helps you reach your goals?

We have the best tips for you to build your goals firmly into your life:

1. Start Now!

We think it’s never too late to turn your life around and start healthy habits. Whether it’s the New Year or a Monday in the middle of march, it’s always a good time to work on yourself and bring out the best in you. After all, as they say, “The best time to plant a tree was 100 years ago. The second best moment is now!”.

2. “You climb a big mountain with small steps”

To make it easier to incorporate a new habit into everyday life, we recommend setting realistic and smaller interim goals. Goals that are too big can be demotivating and also overwhelming, thus robbing you of fun and motivation.

3. Reward yourself!

Interim goal achieved – why not reward yourself? A favorite meal, a hot bath in the tub, or a new pair of shoes. We think there’s nothing wrong with that and it’s a great way to motivate yourself. Successes are successes, no matter how small.

4. Keep track on what you need to do and what you have done

To-do lists, diaries, journals or apps. Anything that keeps track of your progress, setbacks, and successes. Often, you don’t know where to start. The answer? To-Do Lists. When you forget what you’ve accomplished so far? Diaries. When you just want to write down ideas and thoughts? Journals. And when you want to have it all figured out and see stats and analytics? Apps! We recommend the Apps „Stride“, „Habit Tracker“ or „habits“.

5. Be patient with yourself!

Who you are today didn’t happen overnight. Rather, it’s a combination of what you’ve experienced, accomplished and learned so far. Therefore, keep at it and do your best and don’t be too harsh on yourself.

We hope that our tips and tricks will make it a little easier to get started and achieve your resolutions and goals, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for you all!
